Gorgeous Pair of Early Victorian Double Caned Bergére Armchairs.

Gorgeous Pair of Early Victorian Double Caned Bergére Armchairs.

£1,459.00Price

Very rare pair of early Victorian armchairs.

Circa. 1830

Reclaimed from a prestigious Regency dwelling in George Street in Edinburgh.

Double caned to the sides and rear with single caning to the seat. Later addition of upholstered cushions.

Incredible Chinoiserie carved detailing to the centre of the chair and the frame; depicting figurines and floral decal.

Max Dims: H;920mm, W: 580mm, D:630mm. SH (with / without cushion): 530mm / 430mm)

In excellent original condition, no signs of damage or repair. Structurally solid. Cane work to sides and rear is excellent and original. One or two loose / broken strands to canework but nothing that effects the integrity or aesthetic of these stunning chairs, still tawt. Single cane work to the seat is original and undamaged but slightly less tawt as one might expect. The cushions have protected this.  There may be the odd mark or scuff commensurate with age and use but nothing noteworthy.

An absolutely stunning pair of chairs.

Available as a pair but I would consider selling individually.

Please do study the photos and video as these form part of the description.
