Intriguing French Antique Wooden Clock Face depicting Michel Ney.
This really is an intriguing find.
A stunning antique clock face with hand painted wood roman numeral dial with convex chapter ring and a portrait of Napoleons right hand man, Michel Ney to the arch.
Circa. 1820's onwards.
Inscription to the top reads "Maréchal Nu".
The colours and the detail on the clock face are just wonderful
The original hands are in place and remnants of the mechanism exist.
I'm sure that someone with more technical nous than I could add a mechanism to the reverse and get this fabulous piece performing again!
If not; it just makes the most wonderful decorative piece that catches the eye from afar.
Sourced personally in Centre-Val de Loire, France, although probably originating fromThe Black Forest, Germany.
Approx. Max Dims: H: 370mm, W: 250mm
In excellent antique condition. No damage or repairs. Slight losses and crazing to paintwork as to be expected. None of this detracts from the aesthetic splendour of this truely unique piece.
This is an original antique and may well show signs of use and wear commensurate with age.
